Australasian College of Surgeons
The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons is responsible for maintaining high
standards of training and assessment for all Australian surgeons. Accredited
surgeons are permitted to use the abbreviation FRACS after their name and are
required by the College to show evidence of continuing education and submit practice
audits annually.
Australian Orthopaedic Association
The Australian Orthopaedic Association administers training in
orthopaedic surgery and continuing orthopaedic education, in
close liaison
with the College of Surgeons. It also requires evidence of such
activity on a triennial basis. The Association fosters scientific
activity through grants and meetings at national and statewide

of Wales Hospital
The Prince of Wales Hospital is a government funded teaching hospital with education
links with the University of New South Wales. It provides all services required
for care of spine disorders and trauma, including a recently re-built spinal

Prince of Wales Private Hospital
The Prince of Wales Private Hospital occupies the upper levels of
the new block at the Prince of Wales Hospital and whilst there
are close links between the two hospitals, they are managed entirely
independently. The Private Hospital is part of the Mayne Health
network of hospitals. It provides all services required to treat
spinal disorders except major spinal trauma. Go to the website
